The show traditionally took place in early January, but in 2006 was moved to November so as not to be overshadowed by the North American International Auto Show. That year, one show was held in January and another in November, the latter being dubbed the "100 Year Anniversary" show.
The Los Angeles show is only the second International Auto Show in the United States to be officially recognized by the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles, with the first recognized show in November 2006.
